LIVESTOCK SECTION

We always have a great display of cattle and sheep on show at Flintham. Visitors are welcome to come along and see the cattle being prepared for the show and to talk to the exhibitors.

There is usually have an excellent entry of livestock with competitors travelling across the region to our show and it’s very interesting watching the judging process.

Beef Cattle
Entry – £5 per entry per class

Entries will not be accepted on Show Day. Judging will begin at 10:00 am.
All Stock entered in the Cattle Classes must be on the Show Ground half an hour before judging and must not be removed before 3.00 pm unless by prior arrangement with the cattle stewards.

CLASS 37 – Best Native Beef Breed bull
CLASS 38 – Best Native Beef Breed female (born before December 2016)
CLASS 39 – Best Native Beef Breed Maiden Heifer (for females born on after January 2017)
CLASS 40 – Best Continental Beef Breed bull
CLASS 41 – Best Continental Beef Breed female (born before December 2016)
CLASS 42 – Best Continental Breed Maiden Heifer (for females born on/after January 2017)
CLASS 43 – Best butcher’s Steer: Division – Lightweight
CLASS 44 – Best butcher’s Steer: Division – Heavyweight
CLASS 45 – Best butcher’s Heifer: Division – Lightweight
CLASS 46 – Best butcher’s Heifer: Division – Heavyweight
CLASS 47 – Best pair – open to Natives, Continentals & Commercials

All Native and Continental Beef Breed entries must be registered in their respective full Pedigree Herd Book. Pedigree certificates must be available on show day.
We reserve the right to amalgamate classes if insufficient numbers. Under current regulations, Flintham Show is exempt from requirements for pre-movement TB testing for all cattle.
Entries in classes 43-46 will be weighed at the Showground on arrival. Divisions will be made as equally as possible by the stewards.

This will be dependent on the number forward and the weight on the day.
All exhibitors will receive £20 appearance money on completion of the Judging.

Prizes 1st £30, 2nd £20, 3rd £15
• A fourth Prize of £4 will be awarded where there are more than eight Exhibits
• A CHAMPION NATIVE PRIZE of £30 for the Champion in Classes 37 – 39 kindly donated by BELVOIR RIDGE HOLDINGS.
• A RESERVE CHAMPION NATIVE PRIZE of £25 for the Reserve Champion in Classes 37 – 39 kindly donated by Mr& Mrs R. BURTON.
• A CHAMPION CONTINENTAL PRIZE of £30 for the best animal in classes 40-42.
• A CHAMPION COMMERCIAL PRIZE of £30 for the best animal in Classes 43 – 46kindly donated by Mr G SPENCE.
• AN OVERALL CHAMPION PRIZE OF £50 for the winner of the Championship between the Champion Native, Champion Continental and Champion Commercial.

Sheep
Entry – £5 per entry per class

Entries will not be accepted on Show Day. Judging will be at 11.00 am and is open to any breed or cross breed. ALL sheep must NOT be trimmed – this rule will strictly enforced.

CLASS 48 For the Best Pen of three breeding Ewes
CLASS 49 For the Best Pen of three Gimmers, with not more than 2 broad teeth
CLASS 50 For the Best Pen of three Butchers Lambs
CLASS 51 For the Best Pen of three Cross Bred Ewe Lambs suitable for breeding
CLASS 52 Ram Class, any Continental breed six months and over
CLASS 53 Ram Class, any Non-Continental breed six months and over
Note: Lambs to be shown in one class only, either 48 or 49.
